Peter Johnson, Pastor

After growing up in the farm country of Hunterdon County, N.J., and working as a Correction Officer at the Mountain View Correctional Facility, Annandale, N.J., Pastor Peter T. Johnson went to The King’s College, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., from 1976-1978. There he met and married Laurie in August, 1977. After transferring to Oral Roberts University in 1978, Pastor Peter graduated ORU with a B.A. in Biblical Studies (1980). From there he went to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he earned an M.A.T.S. in New Testament Studies (1983). After working in local community services for three years, he was ordained at Calvary Baptist Church, Peabody, Mass. He began parish ministry at Talmadge Hill Community Church, Darien, CT, as a Solo Pastor from 1986-1995. After joining Noroton Presbyterian Church, Darien, CT, in 1996, Pastor Peter became a staff member at NPC in 1997. While at Noroton Church, he finished studies at Yale University Divinity School and earned an M.Div. in 2002 when he also became a Minister of Word and Sacrament for the PC (USA). In March, 2003, Pastor Peter came to Denton Presbyterian Church. He is also a fervent Yankee and Giants fan in spite of the time he spent in the Boston area. He and Laurie live in Middletown, New York.

Technology

Thank God for technology. However, there are some who see technology as one of the “powers” that has gone astray under the influence of evil. This is an arguable point, I suppose, but many have benefited from technology. Dr. Marva Dawn has written of the evils of technology especially as she follows the writings of Jacques Ellul, among others. What do you think?
